More Information about Contraceptive Pill Consultations

At Doctor Today, we offer two kinds of contraceptive pill consultations according to patient circumstances:

1. If she has not had a contraceptive pill before, is starting the pill after a pregnancy, or is experiencing problems with her current pill, the patient starts with a primary consultation (£75) to assess which type of pill (if any) would be most suitable for her according to her personal circumstances and medical history. We then issue a start-up prescription for three months. Towards the end of the three months, the patient returns for a short consultation (£35) to check that the pill is suiting; if so, the patient receives a re-prescription for 6 months. After a second check at 6 months, subsequent checks are 12-monthly.
2. If the patient is already taking a contraceptive pill, and is not experiencing any problems with it, we will usually issue a prescription after a consultation and check-up (£75). Re-prescriptions will be issued subject to 12-monthly checks (short consultation, £35).

Note that the cost of any contraceptive pill or other medication prescribed is not included in the cost of contraceptive pill consultations.
